On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I am delighted to welcome you to the 7th Human Brain Project Open Day in the city of Athens, Greece. The Open Day is under the auspices of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, who will actually open the event and address the participants. Furthermore, the entire Greek academic and research community, especially the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, has contributed to shaping the content and ensuring a highly impactful Summit and Open Day. I am deeply indebted to all of them, as much as I am to all our sponsors, whose generosity has helped us significantly in the overall organisation.
A world-renowned cultural, political, scientific and economic center, on the crossroads of three continents in the East Mediterranean, and with a history of human presence of more than 30 centuries, Athens rises as a perfect place to host the Summit of one of the most ambitious and productive Science & Technology Research Infrastructure Projects in Europe today and inspire the participants towards intense exchanges and fusion of ideas, bringing HBP to the next stage of its life.
A strong community of Greek scientists, developers and visionaries working in HBP-related fields, coming from several universities and research centers in Athens and the rest of Greece, guarantees a refreshing and upbeat atmosphere during the Open Day, catalyzing participants’ interactions and leading to a fertile meeting. The dedicated team of people and institutions behind this event as well as myself are looking forward to an inspiring and productive Open Day and Summit!
